environmental photography: staten-rock-cairn

7/20/06 Staten Island NY - Douglas Schwartz works on his rock sculptures along the shoreline of the Mount Lorretto Unique Area in Staten Island. Schwartz considers his work "Environmental Art" but jokingly notes says some locals call it, "Why in God's name...". Schwartz started the project 10 years ago saying that it started as a way to express his feelings but says it seems to now be a "Zen meditation thing."
